IBM and Sales to Russia
[ send me this paper ]
6 pages in length. IBM entered a guilty
plea to selling sixteen computer work stations and a super
computer to a Russian nuclear weapons laboratory. The sales
occurred in 1996 and 1997 and were completed without IBM having
obtained the necessary federal licenses required to sell
computers for military purposes. While IBM agreed to pay an 8.5
million dollar fine, an executive with IBM acknowledged that they
knew the computers might be used for the building and testing of
nuclear weapons. This paper answers some specific questions
regarding this sale. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

Whether together temporarily as members of a project-oriented team or fairly permanent members of a single department or organization, differences in cultural heritage can result in

Insider Trading Ethics
[ send me this paper ]
A 13 page paper discussing whether insider trading is a made-up crime or is truly unethical. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) instituted its prohibition against insider trading after the crash of the stock market in 1929. The quarterly report was about the only vehicle to company – and investment – information available to those outside of the company itself or not connected with the broker dealing a specific company’s stock. Such is not the case today, of course. Is insider trading the issue it was when prohibitions were made against it? The purpose here is to assess this statement and determine whether insider trading in small companies might be acceptable. This paper argues that insider trading is not acceptable in any degree. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
