Ethical Considerations in Embryonic Stem Cell Research
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page position paper arguing against embryonic stem cell research and in favor of using adult stem cells for the same purpose. Philosophers can argue the moral and ethical position of harvesting embryonic cells forever, “proving” either positive or negative positions at will without arriving at any solution. If patients are indeed suffering needlessly because of the lack of stem cell research, it is the research community that is responsible. Adult stem cells are readily available, behave in the same manner and carry no ethical or moral consequences at all. Rather than argue against government policy, researchers need to be turning their attention to other possibilities, thereby following the path of research development that has been in use for more than a century and thusfar has produced every advance that we now enjoy. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Ethical Issues in Managed Care Research
[ send me this paper ]
This 7 page paper provides an overview of the reasons behind the rise of the HMO and the dilemmas surrounding alternatives. The problem that the paper addresses is that most research is centered on those of white European heritage, a problem perpetuated by researchers’ use of large databases that in themselves exclude many from other population groups. Researchers pursue knowledge with admirable intentions, and they devote much effort to ensuring that they arrive at a research design free of bias of several types. Many fail to understand that they begin with bias, however, and that their entire effort is undertaken under the banner of researcher bias that translates to biased results. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Ethical Values in Nursing
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper discussing whether it is possible to teach ethics and ethical values in nursing. The answer is a resounding yes, of course. In support of that position, the paper discusses the philosophies of Kant, Mill and Rawls. While Kant and Mill (the categorical imperative and “the greater good”) provide a sound basis, the philosophy of Rawls is seen as being most directly applicable to teaching ethics in nursing. Bibliography lists 9 sources.

Ethics in Nursing
[ send me this paper ]
This 5 page report discusses how, in school,
it may seem as though "ethics," fall into some clear cut areas,
and we might nod a little to ourselves, thinking we have a rough
handle on the types of moral decisions we might be considering
during our professional lives This author suggests that another
layer of parameters exists concerning elder abuse, due to our
societal influence of "determined respect." The inherent
societal overlay may detract us from getting accurate
information. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Ethics of Embryonic Stem Cell Research

A 6 page paper discussing what embryonic stem cell research is; the US government’s current ban on creating new lines; ethical questions and the philosophies of Kant and Mill. The paper concludes that adult stem cell research should receive additional attention. Ethics Of Physician-Reported Syphilis
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. The moral obligation Jeff's doctor is compelled to uphold falls under support of deontological ethics, a theory that espouses one's moral duty in any given situation. As a physician, he is torn between his purported duty to warn and the obligation to protect doctor/patient confidentiality; however, the moment Jeff's actions caused other people to become unwitting victims of his indiscretion, the deontological obligation overruled any professional accountability the doctor may have had. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
