Avi Shlaim's "War And Peace In The Middle East: A Concise History": Consequences Of Post-War Settlement
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. According to Avi Shlaim's "War and Peace in the Middle East: A Concise History," ignorance of human rights and a tendency toward political oppression were the consequences of the post-war settlement of 1918-1922, clearly reflecting the consequential elements of imperialism for American policy in the Middle East. At the turn of the twentieth century, the United States was on the verge of becoming one of the world's most important imperial powers. The combination of public pressure, foreign policy elite and agricultural/industrial capitalism clearly signaled a massive global change of significant proportions. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Barry M. Goldwater
[ send me this paper ]
( 9 pp.) What makes a conservative? Parents?
Upbringing? Past experiences, Or the ability to
put all of those things together, be aware of
history, and come to some personal conclusions?
In the case of Arizona Senator and basic maverick,
Barry M. Goldwater (1909 - 1998), we would have
to say all of the above. In his personal and
political memoirs, With No Apologies, published in
1979, Mr. Goldwater observed that his run for the
presidency in 1964"was like trying to stand up in
a hammock." He said he knew that his chances of
winning were slim and contended, that his fellow
Republicans cost him any chance he might have had
during the battle for the Republican nomination.
And in our description above did we mention,
Goldwater as a facilitator of tact? Bibliography

Bellamy's "Looking Backward" – The Problem With Nineteenth-Century Industrialism
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. Edward Bellamy finds many things problematic about the rise of late nineteenth-century industrialism in Looking Backward: 2000-1887. The extent to which this rise of social progress served to economically stunt the masses while creating fortunes for a handful of savvy – if not unscrupulous – businessmen is both grand and far-reaching; that Bellamy's account points out this and many other social, political and economic inequities speaks to a time of American evolution that was not holistically beneficial as many believe. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
