Establishing the Hospitality Department and Shaping its Future
[ send me this paper ]
A 30 page paper discussing points that need to be addressed in developing a university hospitality school. There is little reason that hoteliers’ operational methods should greatly differ from educators’ operational methods of producing individuals qualified for hospitality education and management. Each undertaking has customers to serve, and each likely can improve on processes used. Former Ritz-Carlton CEO Horst Schulze reminisces that Ritz management recognized the Baldrige Award criteria as a set of quality-oriented goals that could benefit Ritz-Carlton and help it to achieve its goals of improving both results and expectations in operations. The same is true regarding the position the university’s hospitality department now holds and also that which it seeks to attain within the coming decade. The purpose here is to review the manner, methods and rationale through which the hospitality department can emerge as a leading program. Bibliography lists 16 sources.

Ethical Issues and Dilemmas Faced in Adult Education
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 5 page paper on ethical issues faced in adult education. Ethical issues are of great importance in the process of adult education. Through the process of adult education, adult learners and their educators must determine what courses, learning processes and goals can be established for content and throughout this process social and moral considerations may be controversial and involve conflicting beliefs and values. Educators must identify the goals of the course in relation to the personal and professional goals of the adult learner while at the same time allowing for adult learners to either accept or reject the opportunities made available to them through education. Sometimes, educators may be upset or may disagree with the goals adult learners have set for themselves but they must also allow for the fact that adult learners differ from students who are children in that they already have established goals, lifestyles, beliefs and values which they may not care to change through the course of education.

Extracurricular Activity's Link to Academic Performance
[ send me this paper ]
A 15 page
research proposal for conducting a study into the relative value of extracurricular programs
in public schools. In these days of ever-tightening budgets and ongoing criticism of the
academic records of public schools, the tendency to cut funding for extracurricular activities
is stronger than ever. Traditionally, this has been the area of public school funding that has
been first in the line of targets for reducing. The argument is that US students perform far
below those of other developed nations, and that US schools need to put more emphasis on
academics than on associated activities. Other studies find positive correlation between
participation in extracurricular activities and increased academic performance, and this one
seeks to determine whether such a link truly does exist. Includes one chart. Bibliography
lists 14 sources.
