Romanticism
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper discussing the art of the Romanticism period with the focus resting on two particular artists. The artists examined are Theodore Gericault, considered to be the first true artist of the Romanticism period, and Eugene Delacroix, his follower and the man who essentially took over when Gericault died. The Romantic period of art was a time when art was filled with passion and emotion. The paintings often depicted real, and incredibly violent, events, often giving the people a fresh new perspective on the world around them as well as the art world, where previously all art had been very rigid and unemotional. Romanticism In Twenty-First Century America
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. Amidst the troubling and often fatalistic attitude of the twenty-first century, the concept of Romanticism is still alive and well and living in the most developed country in the world. That there still exist artistic and cultural free spirits who embody the self-centered search for authenticity that J.L. Talmon describes for the nineteenth century speak volumes about the human spirit and its incessant quest for "the triumph of the values of imaginative spontaneity, visionary originality, wonder and emotional self-expression over the classical standards of balance, order, restraint, proportion and objectivity" (Drabble PG). Romanticism Values: Intuition, Emotion, and Imagination.
[ send me this paper ]
(5 pp) "One of the problems of definition is that the Romantics were liberals and conservatives, revolutionaries and reactionaries. Some were preoccupied with God, others were atheistic, to the core. Some, began their lives as devout Catholics, lived as ardent revolutionaries, and died as staunch conservatives. " However, there are some generalities, that the author will discuss, which will give us a rough outline, of that historical period, usually thought of, from 1750 to 1850.
