The Multi-Dimensional and Interactive Experiences with the Installation and Environmental Art of Anish Kapoor and Franz West
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 6 page paper on installation artists Anish Kapoor and Franz West. Environmental or installation artists Anish Kapoor and Franz West represent the highlights and interactive experiences obtained for gallery visitors through installation art. Installation art or environment art is known as that which encompasses an entire gallery space whether in inside or outside environments. The works of Kapoor and West however, offer the gallery visitor so much more than enormity. Kapoor’s use of curves and spaces take the visitors “through doors” into alternate dimensions through which the visitor can wander and experience. West’s works not only encompass entire spaces but also encourage visitors to interact with his pieces and “step into it, to sit on it, lie on it” and releases the visitors from the usually restrictive mental and physical elements related to gallery exhibitions.

The Paintings of Joseph Mallord William Turner Contrasted with The Work of Claude Lorraine
[ send me this paper ]
An 8 page analysis of the work of this nineteenth century painter. The author contends that much of Turner’s inspiration came from the classical painters such as Claude Lorraine. Turner’s will, in fact, directed that two of his paintings go to the National Gallery to be displayed alongside Claude’s work. The author asserts that this was both a recognition of the influence Turner had gained from Claude and a final means of painting with light and contrast, a means achieved not within his own canvas but through a side by side exhibit with the work of another painter whose work emphasized different yet similar artistic elements and style. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

The Rediscovery Of The Human / The New Physicality In Late Medieval Art & Literature
[ send me this paper ]
A comprehensive, 60 page thesis paper on the transition between what has come to be called in the art field the Romanesque & Gothic periods. The writer asserts, first, that a similar distinction is also present in the literature, and that the Gothic spirit is actually a rediscovery of the physical which had been lost due to the Christian Church's obsession with the spiritual alone. It is ultimately concluded that the transformation of vision that occurred in late medieval ages was the movement from a culture obsessed with becoming divine to a culture more at home in its own humanity. Bibliography lists more than 25 sources.
