The Concepts Of Economic Development And Human Development
[ send me this paper ]
3 pages in length. There was a time when the separation between economic development and human development were so vast that there was actually very little connection between them. Communities – such as the Amish – viewed economic development as pitching in with one another's tasks, growing food and building homesteads for everyone, and bartering services for services when something was needed beyond the scope of what one's own family might be able to provide. Human development grew out of being confident with one's abilities, realizing one's limitations and fulfilling one's sense of magnanimity by being part of the collective community. Then the industrial age emerged, bringing with it the competitive nature of capitalism, and soon what was once a fair and equitable existence – where a person had peace of mind and no worries about money – quickly turned into a cutthroat society where people battled with one another over acquiring riches to the point where an individual's human development became inextricably interwoven with his ability – or inability – to establish a solid economic development. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
