The Probability of Intelligent Life Forms on Other Planets
[ send me this paper ]
In 5 pages the author discusses the probability of intelligent life forms on other plants around other stars. When one considers the "alien life form" concept, it is generally in a humorous or scary way as portrayed in the great number of sci-fi movies about aliens. One movie has been shown in recent years that is more real to life than imaginable. That movie is "Contact," which starred Jodie Foster as Ph.D. Astronomer Ellie Arroway. Although the movie was science fiction, it was real enough to make viewers ponder the real possibility of intelligent life on other planets around other stars. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

The Process of Justification: An Evolving Phenomena
[ send me this paper ]
A 6 page discussion of the process and concept of justification. Contends that justification is in essence the presentation of evidence or facts which support our views or beliefs. This "evidence" or "fact" varies considerably, however, according to what arena it is presented in. Justification, when used in the more regulated areas of our lives, can be quite elaborate and scientific. Other more challengable forms of justification can be based simply on societal precedence or religious belief and philosophy.

The Relevance of the Evolutionary Theory to Moral Philosophy
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 7 page paper discussing the relevance of the evolutionary theory to moral philosophy. Since the publication of the evolutionary theory in 1859 by Charles Darwin, it has remained relevant in the arguments in moral philosophy, social theory, and human development as well as making its obvious impact on the scientific community. While some philosophers such as Friedrich Nietzsche used the concept of experience from the science of Darwin to further philosophical arguments, others believed that evolution could be applied directly to the development of morality, ethics and consciousness as components of survival similar to those found in the animal kingdom. Many modern day philosophers and theologians disagree however as aspects of morality and consciousness cannot be found to have an origin other than that of divine intervention. Regardless of the acceptance or rejection of the evolutionary theory as applied to moral and ethical development, its introduction and concepts through the world of science have had a significant impact and relevance in all academic disciplines including moral philosophy.
Bibliography lists 7 sources.
