Spanking Verses Modern Forms of Behavioral Modification
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page discussion of techniques for achieving behavioral modification. Spanking as a form of correction is viewed very differently by different people. The more traditional approach to child rearing incorporates spanking as a mild form of punishment. Spanking is employed as a means of correcting inappropriate behavior. The more contemporary approach to child rearing, however, often views spanking as an antiquated and cruel relict of our past. Many contend in fact that spanking is ineffective in terms of instilling correct behavior in a child. In many cases in fact spanking, although an effective deterrent of earlier generations, is not the most preferred means of behavioral modification in today’s environment. Staircases: Metaphorical and Real
[ send me this paper ]
(5 pp) In myth and imagination, in history and
reality, the staircase has always been a symbol of
uncertainty and expectation. Architects have
defined staircases to suggest levels of power, to
suggest control and to heighten a sense of symbolic passage on a physical level. To demonstrate this idea three distinct historical staircases will be examined: stairs in the Palace of Knossos in Crete; stairs in a southern Georgia mansion and stairs in a southwest New Mexico chapel.

Ted Bundy: Differential Association Theory
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. Ted Bundy may truly have been the slickest of all killers. He taught FBI officials more about the inner workings of a serial killer than any other of his kind; Bundy would regularly counsel agents on the correct places to look for other murderers who followed his method of operation. Time and time again, he correctly predicted where the killers would resurface, which most often was one of the original crime scenes to relive the experience and look for token souvenirs. When the student examines the sociological aspects of Bundy's persona, it is with relative ease that his deviant behavior can be applied to the theory of differential association based upon Stephen G. Michaud's account in The Only Living Witness : The True Story of Serial Sex Killer Ted Bundy. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
