Life Span Humor
[ send me this paper ]
A 4 page essay on the development of 'applied' humor over the course of an individual's life. Very young children make forays into attempts at humor that make perfect sense to them, but very often is completely missed by their caretaking adults. Studies of groups of college students show that students of either sex who view themselves as humorous and instigators of humor grew up with same-sex parents who were likely to joke and clown with them—the same behavior by the opposite-sex parent apparently had little effect. Children's humorous attempts need to be reinforced in order to help them to develop a humorous outlook that can serve them well during the 'unfunny' times of their later, adult lives. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Living In Virtual Reality
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. What would it be like to live in total virtual reality? Some believe it is the answer to all the world's ills, in that war, hunger and disease could all be programmed out of existence. With such power over these otherwise detrimental entities, life would be absent of all things negative and harmful. However, others contend that programming one's existence from a ready-made set of experiences leaves no possibility for the unknown, the challenging or the inherent element of human disappointment.
