Union Influences in Privatization Efforts at HUD
[ send me this paper ]
A 35 page paper discussing the cost and
management problems that have plagued the department of Housing and Urban Development
(HUD) for several years, particularly as they relate to the possibility of privatization. One
aspect of the possible privatization of HUD is that all involved need to turn their attention
away from themselves and look instead in the direction of those citizens these government
employees are charged with serving. Application of sound management practice can alleviate
many of HUD's existing problems, which in turn could result in employees having a more
favorable view of the agency and more comfortable feelings about any restructuring or
privatization. HUD's management needs to make concerted effort to win over union
management so that each faction can discuss the issues of reality that are bearing down upon
them both. Bibliography lists 17 sources.

Virginia's Constitutional Ratification
[ send me this paper ]
6 pages in length. Once the Constitution had been finalized in September by the Constitutional Convention in 1787, it had to be ratified by specially elected conventions in each of the states. In some cases there occurred much debate and close votes for ratification, but eventually all thirteen of the original states opted for the Constitution. One can, therefore, readily assume that in Virginia there were questions raised by convention delegates regarding fears of their class interest, as well as their state's interests. When one hypothetically examines Virginia initially receiving the Constitution and the questions most likely raised by a document radically departed from the previous Articles of Confederation, one might readily surmise that the class interests in question had much to do with the upper echelon. Bibliography lists 1 source.
