Expropriation And/Or Nationalization Of Property According To International Law
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. International Law was established as a means by which to allow for fair and appropriate global interaction. When first implemented, international law was comprehensive enough to address virtually every potential situation that might arise; however, since the middle of the twentieth century, the very foundation upon which international law is based has not been strong or secure enough to adequately remedy myriad issues. Primary to this breakdown has been the continuing increase in cross-border capital flows since World War II's close; as such, the ongoing changes multinational corporations imparted upon states could not be addressed as they related to international law, with particular emphasis placed upon expropriation and/or nationalization of property. Fawn M. Brodie's 'Thomas Jefferson : An Intimate History'
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page analysis of 'Thomas Jefferson: an Intimate History' by Fawn M. Brodie. It has always seemed contradictory that the man who wrote that "all men are created equal" was a slave owner, and that it was rumored he had a long-standing sexual relationship with one of his black slaves. Brodie's work does an admirable job of reconciling these discrepancies as she argues that Jefferson's actions made sense in the context of his own time and were consistent with his own philosophy.
