Altering Medicare’s Effect on Health Care
[ send me this paper ]
A 15 page paper discussing the history, economic effect, regulations and future of Medicare. There is intense and ongoing debate about the future of Medicare, the need for reform and the shape that such reform should take. As politicians haggle over private interests and noble ideals that no one can afford, Medicare’s influence on health care increasingly affects microeconomic choices of households and businesses, as well as the larger national economy. There is no question that Medicare must become more flexible. Its micro- and macroeconomic effect is detrimental to the health care industry, to the national economy and to individuals seeking health care services. The paper suggests that Medicare allow the private sector to drive reform of the system. Includes an outline. Bibliography lists 11 sources.

Amending the Freedom of Information Act
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper discussing the
Ford-Firestone case and suggesting amendment to the Freedom of Information Act. A suitable
amendment to the FoIA would be one requiring companies to provide information more open to
categorization according to product type. All SEC records are fully accessible to the public, but
in today's merger-oriented world it is often difficult to determine what company produces what
product. Categorization of information may have returned Firestone's name on Ford Explorer
searches, leading regulatory agencies to Firestone's corporate door perhaps before there had been
any deaths. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

America The Melting Pot, France The Democratic Republic: How Have These Models Fared?
[ send me this paper ]
10 pages in length. The United States is often referred to as a country based upon an integrationist or melting pot model of incorporation and belonging, while France is
considered to be based upon a republican or assimilationist model. The manner by which these models compare and contrast brings to light how attitudes have changed throughout the twentieth century. One might readily surmise that these classifications were once based upon the notion
of equity for all; however, while the validity of these classification may have at one time held some modicum of social importance, both countries have ultimately deviated from their respective models in relation to policies toward immigrants and citizenship. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

America Under Attack
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages. On September 11, 2001, America
was attacked by terrorists, resulting in the loss of thousands of
lives and untold millions of dollars in devastation. Hardest hit
were New York City and Washington D.C. Who were the terrorists
who perpetrated such an attack on the United States, and what
were their reasons for doing so? The United States is in the
course of discovering the answers to these questions which this
paper will address. This paper also considers what actions
should be taken, if any, by the United States in light of these
horrific events, and what the citizens of the United States feel
should be done. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

America's Role In The World System
[ send me this paper ]
A 10 page paper. The position is taken that American leadership has resulted in a more stable and safer world system. Hegemonic stability theory is discussed - for a stable world-system, it is necessary for one nation to take the position of leadership. In the 19th century, it was Britain; in the 20th century, it was the U.S. The writer presents a comprehensive explanation of the need for one 'superpower' and the factors that are involved in that nation gaining and maintaining that position. America's Social Security System: President Bush And The Stock Market
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. It is difficult to ignore the tremendous financial trouble that plagues the United States Social Security system, with the primary problems being America's current number of retirees and the fact that the Social Security trust fund has not been properly invested in the past. If no such problems existed, President Bush would not be suggesting that part of social security payments go to the stock market as a means by which to help bail out the failing program. What are the issues for and against such a change? The potential benefits and the potential costs? Clearly, when one assesses these aspects of the president's plan, one must examine the long-term gains and losses of such a proposition. Bibliography lists 6 sources.

American Counterinsurgency Tactics in the Vietnam War
[ send me this paper ]
An 11 page discussion of the manner in which American counterinsurgency tactics were hampered by politics during the Vietnam War. The author of this paper contends that while the U.S. military was fully capable of winning in Vietnam, their hands were tied by political decisions which occurred back home and, in fact, by a biased liberal press.
