A Summary of “When Bad Things Happen to Good People” by Harold S. Kushner
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 5 page paper summarizing Harold Kushner’s “When Bad Things Happen to Good People” (1981). Harold Kushner’s “When Bad Things Happen to Good People” (1981) tells of Kushner’s own emotional and spiritual journey back to the belief of God after the death of his three year old son. Kushner, a Rabbi, tried to make sense of many of the traditional arguments of God’s existence and the reasons for some of the tragic events of the modern world. Overall, Kushner provides a usable argument for God as his idea rests on the fact that although God is not all powerful, He is a God of love. In addition, his argument also presents a case on the aspects of natural law in which moments of chaos create disasters which do not discriminate based on morality. While the reader may or may not agree with Kushner on the aspects of God’s power, the reader may find Kushner’s suggestions on how to deal with people who are dealing with grief and pain, as Kushner himself has experienced it first hand.

(16pp)The murderous violence practiced by Abu-Nidal’s organization. Fath - The Revolutionary Council - is guided by a specific ideology and world view. Consequently, according to the organization itself, its operational activity need not obscure the fact that its actions are intended to serve an idea, and indeed that its origins and subsequent development lie in an ideological dispute between Abu-Nidal and the Fath establishment. It is all easy and good to say that these terrorist acts are done in the support of an ideal. Yet we need to ask ourselves, whose ideal and to what end.
