Victorian Social, Political And Economic Setting
[ send me this paper ]
The emphasis in urban
studies, however, is the development of social, political, religious and
ethnic configurations within the emerging structures. This 7 page paper

Villainy in Shakespeare's "Hamlet" and "Othello"
[ send me this paper ]
A seven page paper looking at these two works by William Shakespeare in terms of the depth of evil in their villains, Claudius and Iago. The paper notes that the best and most effective villains are those who are not completely black, but who contain shades of gray; the most effective evil does not come from the villain alone, but from the personality clashes engendered by the conflict in which the villain and hero find themselves engaged. Bibliography lists three sources.

Virginia Woolf as a Modernist
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 5 page paper discussing the modernist literature process used by Virginia Woolf in her writings. Examples of her works used are “The Voyage Out” and “To the Lighthouse” which incorporate the themes of sexual abuse, incest and bereavement all aspects found within the life of Woolf and are presented in a modernist approach using scattered images, non-traditional procedures and thoughts, and irrational format in plot development and behaviour of the characters.
Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Virtue as a Way to Happiness in Literature
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper which examines the
enlightened notion that charity, or a concern for others, is the best approach to life, for
through such an approach one can find their own happiness and enlightenment. 18th
century philosophers rejected this notion that was associated with Hobbes and defended
the theory that man is essentially good and finds happiness through virtue and
benevolence, which is essentially following one's true nature. The paper discusses whether
or not the stories "Moll Flanders" by Daniel Defoe and "Sense and Sensibility" by Jane
Austen support this notion that man is inherently good and that virtue and benevolence are
the ways to real happiness. The paper argues that "Moll Flanders" does not follow this
philosophy as it relates to Moll, while "Sense and Sensibility" does. Bibliography lists 3
additional sources.

Why God Chose Not to Intervene in Milton’s “Paradise Lost”
[ send me this paper ]
This 9 page report discusses John Milton’s “Paradise Lost” (1667) and how he shows his readers a world in which human beings found the eloquence and deceptions of Satan are far more interesting or stimulating than anything that relates to the regal and impenetrable silence of the heavens. Why didn’t God take action to stop Satan? What was the overall intent of allowing Satan to cause the havoc which has plagued humanity for all time? Bibliography lists 3 sources.

Wilde's Salome and Beardsley's Illustrations
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper discussing the issue of sexuality and contributions to the avant-garde. Beardsley's representation of Salome can be seen as a symbolic one, and one carefully crafted for public dissection, given Beardsley's and Wilde's public relationship. Though others may still wonder whether Beardsley ever actually saw the play, his illustrations provide an intriguing counterpoint to Wilde's work. Bibliography lists 6 sources in 10 footnotes.
