Identity in Moll Flanders (1722)
[ send me this paper ]
(7 pp.) Did you read the title and think that this
was an oxymoron? Did women have identities in the
year Defoe's novel was published? Certainly they
could not have overt identities, that is for sure;
however Defoe is able to provide them for Moll in
the relationship she has with her clothes and her
money. If we look at Defoe's life, many of his
experiences parallel Moll's, or is the other way
around?

[ send me this paper ]
A five page paper looking at Chaucer's "Miller's Tale" from the "Canterbury Tales" in terms of its relevance to today's world. Is Dickens a Feminist?
[ send me this paper ]
A five page paper looking for evidence of Dickens' feminism in "Oliver Twist," "David Copperfield," "Bleak House," "Great Expectations," and "Martin Chuzzlewit." The paper concludes that although Dickens was conscious that his society frequently thrust women into situations which were unfair or even cruel, he does not really seem capable at looking at the world from a woman's point of view. Bibliography lists six sources.

James Joyce's "A Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man"
[ send me this paper ]
3 pages in length. The relationships between and among religion, politics, family and writing within the literary boundaries of James Joyce's "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man" are wholly interconnected throughout the entire story. Stephen is no more able to abandon the oppressive hand of religion than he is can walk away from his family, inasmuch as the two entities are represented as single being. Clearly, the political ramifications of the author's writing twist together with issues of family and religion in order to comprise both the underlying and obvious social connotations. No additional sources cited.
