Perceptions of Nurse Practitioners
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper discussing the perceptions that physicians and nurses have towards the nurse practitioner. The nurse practitioner is becoming more and more necessary in light of the fact that more and more people need care and there are only so many doctors to go around. The existence of nurse practitioners also enables health care costs to be minimized as the charges are not as high for their employment as for doctors. Most doctors are wary at first, assuming the nurse practitioner may not be truly qualified. But their fears often disappear after working with them. Nurses are generally accepting of the nurse practitioner as well, understanding that they play an essential role in the field of medicine. Bibliography lists 20 sources.

Pets And The Elderly: A Beneficial Relationship
[ send me this paper ]
22 pages in length. In this day and age of ever-increasing technological advancement, there are still some things that cannot be improved upon, such as the inherently beneficial relationship between pets and the elderly. There is no question that animals offer unconditional love and support, which is what most people desperately need when living out the rest of their lives in residential or nursing homes. While this intrinsic bond has long been recognized, it has not been put to medicinal use until quite recently with the advent of therapy animals and in-house pets. The marked difference animals have shown to make in various aspects of elderly patients' lives is astounding, from encouraging speech where none had existed to giving hope to one who has all but lost it. Undoubtedly, pets provide a significant incentive for the elderly to live, if for no other reason than to take the focus off their own failing health and place it upon another loving, receptive being. The writer discusses the benefits that pets have upon the elderly. Bibliography lists 15 sources.

balance between positive and negative charges of
electricity, that normally exists in our body has
been disturbed. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

Polonium 210's Role in Lung Cancer Caused by Cigarette Smoking
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper discussing the action of polonium-210 on lung tissue. The isotope is a naturally occurring compound in cigarette smoke resulting from combustion of lead-210 emitting alpha radiation that has been shown to cause cancer in research animals. After more than 25 years of research into the specific action of polonium-210, it still is not totally clear what the carcinogenic action of the isotope is, but it is clear that it plays a direct role in carcinogenicity, most likely through mutagenesis resulting in damaged cell processes.
