Martin Luther King's Stride Toward Freedom
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper discussing the 1958 book that
rose from the year-long Montgomery Bus Boycott. There was nothing truly miraculous about the
boycott itself, but such was not the case in what happened in the collective black psyche in
Montgomery during the course of the boycott. Racial shame began to diminish among the black
population; it may have begun to grow among the town's whites. Standard methods of
intimidation lost their powers, even to the point that KKK cross burnings were less effective than
at any other time. The act of civil disobedience that launched the year-long boycott was a small
one. The results it accomplished were immense. Bibliography lists 1 source.

Martin Luther King, Jr.: Importance and
Contributions
[ send me this paper ]
(5 pp) Faith Ringgold (1998) a folk artist and
author, tells in her children's book, My Dream of
Martin Luther King "This time we had come to mourn
Martin Luther King's death by trading in bags
containing our prejudice, hate, ignorance, violence,
and fear for the slain hero's dream. We emptied
the bags onto a great pile, and as the last bag was
dumped, the pile exploded into a fire so bright that
it lit up the whole world. There, emblazoned across
the sky, were the words: EVERY GOOD THING STARTS
WITH A DREAM." This book, supposedly for ages four
through eight, simply states one of King's greatest
contributions: the ability to dream or envision
how things should be. Dr. King's life continues to
teach us that with courage, vision and
determination, every one of us has the power to
help change the course of our nation and the world.

Michael Jordan - Is He A Hero?
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page synopsis of the 1992 biography of Michael Jordan by Sam Smith. The writer demonstrates that while Smith's biography shows a negative side to Jordan's character not seen by his adoring public, debunking the Jordan mystique was not Smith's intention.
